Remember we want to be informative and we want subjects that keep bringing readers back. Eventually they will trust you and join your MLM opportunity.

When your blog is about a certain topic such as MLM techniques or things on this subject, do not talk about the MLM opportunity you are in. If you do this then what will happen is they will go directly to the companies website and will read about it and probably by turned off. Do not forget the reason that you have this blog is to gain trust and to teach them how they can build a network of prospects and leads for whatever MLM business they might want to join. If you feel you have to talk about your own opportunity do it on a separate blog. What should happen is that they should come to your blog on a continues pattern, read your information and opt-in to your opportunity. This is your way of telling Google “I don’t want any blog traffic from you”. Your URL will still get indexed, but you’ll never get ranked for ANYTHING. And, oh yeah, spam bots will still crawl you though.

How do you avoid this blog traffic mistake?

Make sure your privacy setting are set to “visible to everyone”.

You’d think it’s a newbie mistake, but let me warn you, I saw several SEO blogs that made the same mistake – most likely, by mistake. Even I made sure mine were set correctly after I read their posts!

2. meta name=”description” content=”MLM, mlm, Mlm, MLM blog, mlm blog, blog mlm”

Why don’t you just put in there “SPAM, Spam, SPam, more spam”?

This is the description that will show up in Google search results; it is your chance to lure your potential blog traffic to your page, so use it wisely!

Worse come to worse, keep it empty, in which case the search engines will simply pull an excerpt from your content.

3. meta name=”keywords” content=”MLM, mlm, Mlm, MLM blog, mlm blog, blog mlm”

Look out, Google, potential spam on this site!

Meta keywords do not count toward Google search engine rankings any longer, despite the fact that some people still believe that your meta keywords need to match your page keywords. Not so, not any more.

Another newbie mistake on the topic: when you add all your keywords in meta keyword tag (especially if you actually did some keyword research and found some great money keywords), any of your competitors can easily look them up through your page source. So you are basically saying to them “Be my guest, see what my best keywords are!”

Keep your keywords to yourself!

4. meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress 2…”

Now you are simply inviting the hackers in by announcing that you are using an older version of WordPress.

WordPress always recommends an upgrade to the newest version (I know, I know, nobody wants to mess up their blog upgrading to a new version, but it has to be done, trust me. Learn to back up regularly.)

Plus, Technorati might deindex your blog if you are running an older version.
