What They Don’t Teach You At Harvard Business School,

You see every now and then in life we have opportunities that come and go, and we endure failure as it is part of the creation of life itself. Well, somewhere, sometimes we encounter an axiom or a truism that CAN completely turn our life around.

Well i am going to share this today,  Axioms that can change your life

Cure off depression

Make you Super Positive

Even Lift up your spirits so high…

A word of caution>> But, remember do not blind yourself by It…Its seriously POWERFUL!

  1. If you don’t know, say so. If you don’t know what you’re talking about, stop talking.
  2. Whether negotiation is strong or weak depends entirely on your goals.
  3. Don’t jump ship before you hit the iceberg.
  4. Anger is never about what you think you’re angry about.
  5. Confidence comes from success, knowledge comes from failure.
  6. A**hole is a subjective noun.
  7. If you’re miserable, quit and do something else. If you’re still miserable, it’s you.
  8. Success is based on current behavior, not past performance.
  9. If you protect your domain or CYA, that’s all you’ll accomplish.
  10. Thin-skinned people are actually thick-headed.
  11. People won’t perform for those they don’t respect.
  12. If you’re not passionate about what you’re doing, you won’t be successful at it.
  13. When you have problems with others, look inside yourself for answers.
  14. The workplace is about business, not you.
  15. Conflict is healthy; anger is not. Get some help for that.
  16. No matter how smart you are, wisdom only comes from experience.
  17. Whine and complain all you want; nobody gives a crap.
  18. You can BS others but you really can’t BS yourself.
  19. The boss isn’t always right, but she’s still the boss.
  20. The customer isn’t always right, but he’s still the customer.

If any of this comes across as sort of preachy, just so you know, that’s not my intent. I’m not interested in indoctrinating anyone, just…

helping you to navigate a complex and challenging working world.

Come to think of it, while I think their meanings should be self-evident – at least after some reflection – I’m probably not the best judge of that. So if you don’t get it, ask and I’ll provide additional color in the comment section.

The Early Years
Rick was born in 1962 to Dick and Judy Hoyt. As a result of oxygen deprivation to Rick’s brain at the time of his birth, Rick was diagnosed as a spastic quadriplegic with cerebral palsy. Dick and Judy were advised to institutionalize Rick because there was no chance of him recovering, and little hope for Rick to live a “normal” life. This was just the beginning of Dick and Judy’s quest for Rick’s inclusion in community, sports, education and one day, the workplace.

Dick and Judy soon realized that though Rick couldn’t walk or speak; he was quite astute and his eyes would follow them around the room. They fought to integrate Rick into the public school system, pushing administrators to see beyond Rick’s physical limitations. Dick and Judy would take Rick sledding and swimming, and even taught him the alphabet and basic words, like any other child. After providing concrete evidence of Rick’s intellect and ability to learn like everyone else, Dick and Judy needed to find a way to help Rick communicate for himself.

The Beginning of Team Hoyt
In the spring of 1977, Rick told his father that he wanted to participate in a 5-mile benefit run for a Lacrosse player who had been paralyzed in an accident. Far from being a long-distance runner, Dick agreed to push Rick in his wheelchair and they finished all 5 miles, coming in next to last. That night, Rick told his father, “Dad, when I’m running, it feels like I’m not handicapped.”

This realization was just the beginning of what would become over 1,000 races completed, including marathons, duathlons and triathlons (6 of them being Ironman competitions). Also adding to their list of achievements, Dick and Rick biked and ran across the U.S. in 1992, completing a full 3,735 miles in 45 days.

China – the success story

( I suppose this can be said of Singapore , Taiwan and South Korea)

US President Obama visited China last week, primarily to find out what exactly & how exactly China is doing things that makes it such a success story, surpassing all the so-called “expert economic planners” of the US & Europe. His team found these 5 basic lessons behind China’s success -  it applies equally to our country :

LESSON No 1  -  BE AMBITIOUS
The Chinese believe in Setting Goals, Making Plans, & Focusing on Moving Ahead  -  there is always the sense of foward motion.
As an example, a huge 6-lane highway in Shanghaitook only 2 years from planning to ready for traffic. In the US, 2 years will only get you the environment and local authority permit if you are lucky .

LESSON No 2 –  EDUCATION MATTERS

The Chinese are obsessed with ensuring kids get the right education  - English, Maths & Science. They made sure that ther education system  reached even the most remote rural areas  -  today the literacy rate in China is OVER 90%, surpassing even the USA‘s 86%. According to American Educationists, the Chinese kids are way ahead of the kids in the USA.

LESSON No 3  -  LOOK AFTER THE ELDERLY
The Chinese DO NOT send their elderly to nursing care centres  -  they personally look after & care for their parents. In the US, nursing care of the elderly is now costing each resident USD 85,000 annually, & this is rising. The Chinese also believe that the grandparents at home make the best tutors for their children. It also provides a sense of cultural continuity  -  this helps bind society.

LESSON No 4 –  SAVE MORE
In the USA, savings dropped to zero in 2005, and is only now slowly rising to 4%. In China, the savings rate for every household has exceeded 20%. The Chinese believe that fugality & a healthy savings rate are a sure indicator of a country’s financial health. High savings lead to increased investments – results in increased productivity, innovation & job growth.

LESSON No 5  -  LOOK OVER THE HORIZON
In China, eveyone is foward looking  -  never backwards. New graduates make a vow  -  never ever will their children & grandchildren ever work in the fields again. With this kind of foward mentality, people are always thinking & planning how, not just to succeed, BUT how to be the best in the world in everything they do.

Pua’s mighty ‘Pen Drive’

Who is Pua Khein Seng?

He is the man who invented the USB pen-drive…

Fact file

Name:
Pua Khein Seng
Hometown:
Sekinchan, Selangor
Education:
SJKC Yeok Kuan, Sekinchan; Pin Hwa Independent school, Klang; Chiao Tung University, Taiwan
Occupation:
Engineer/ president of Phison Electonics Corp
Current base:
Taipei , Taiwan

WHEN he set off for Taiwan in 1993, Pua Khein Seng’s only aim was to complete his degree in Electrical Control Engineering at the renowned Chiao Tung University and return home to work in Malaysia .

Never did he envision himself heading a multi-million dollar Taiwanese company that developed the world’s first USB flash removable disk, which they called Pen Drive .

Pua Khein Seng went to Taiwan to get his engineering degree but ended up staying on, starting his own company and inventing the pen drive.

“I went to Taiwan to pursue my undergraduate degree. I chose Taiwan only because it was too expensive to study either in the United States or Singapore .

“However, I did well in my undergraduate programme and was offered a place to do my masters,” explained Pua, who was back in Kuala Lumpur recently for a holiday.

After completing his Masters in July 1999, Pua worked for about six months in a local company before deciding to set up his own venture company with four fellow engineers who had studied with him at Chiao Tung.

“We were confident that we had the know-how and ability to start our own business, which is focused on USB technology. The company is called Phison because there are five of us – two Malaysians and three Taiwanese engineers,” said Pua, 31, who hails from Sekinchan, Selangor.

Phison Electronics Corporation was set up in November 2000 and within six months the young entrepreneurs came up with their first invention – a USB storage device called Pen Drive .

“We were the first company in the world to develop the USB Drive SoC (System On Chip) and we were very confident that the market for USB will be huge. At the time, no one believed in us so we had to do everything ourselves – from developing the technology, the chips to the product itself.

“We were only 27 at the time and inexperienced. But we were confident that we could design good systems and chips but we didn’t know anything about selling. So, we sought partners or traders who could help sell our products for us,” Pua added.

Through smart partnerships and shrewd strategies, Phison soon made its way into European, American and Japanese markets. One quick move was securing Japanese tech giant Toshiba as Phison’s largest shareholder and customer..

“We launched Pen Drive in June 2001 and by August the same year, we broke even! From September 2001, we were reaping monthly profits from our invention and there has been no turning back since.”

Having established himself in Taiwan , Pua is in the midst of setting up Phison’s branch in Malaysia , due to begin operations this
February.

“I am starting a branch in Malaysia because this is my country. I would like to do contribute to its development.

“We have about 100 engineers at Phison in Taiwan , 20 of whom are Malaysians. Though they studied in Taiwan , I had to re-train all the engineers I hire because, like most fresh graduates (in this field), they are not industry-ready upon graduation.

“Unfortunately, some of the Malaysian engineers want to return home after a couple of years because they are homesick, about to start a family and so on. Some prefer to work in Singapore , as it is closer to home. Instead of losing them to competitors, I decided to set up an office in Malaysia where they can still work for me,” said Pua.

Another problem faced by returning computer engineers from Taiwan , Pua added, was the lack of job opportunities for hardware engineers in Malaysia .

“There is no environment or support for design engineers here in Malaysia . One of my Malaysian engineers from Phison returned home and ended up as a teacher in a Chinese school! I was shocked and thought, ‘After all that training and re-training, he is going to just teach?’ I told him to hold on till I open up the Phison branch in Malaysia .”

Though he has been in Taiwan for the past 12 years and married to a Taiwanese, Pua is not sure how much longer he will remain there.

“I have really no idea where I will be in 20 years. Maybe Taiwan , maybe Malaysia , maybe somewhere else … it all depends on my business. The industry is moving so fast that I cannot predict what or where I will be,” he said.

For the moment though, Taiwan is home for Pua, his wife and two children even though he misses the Malaysian way of life.

“I come home once a year for Chinese New Year and will usually stay for about two weeks. There are several things I really miss about Malaysia . One is the food! For the past 12 years I have been craving for Malaysian food … I miss laksa, curry noodles, chee cheong fun and all the other delicious dishes we have here.

“I also miss the lifestyle and quality of life here. When I come back, I am always amazed to see people hanging out and relaxing at mamak shops at night. In Taiwan , most people would still be at work at that time of the night!

“Before I got married, I used to work for 15 to 17 hours a day, everyday. Now that I have children, my wife has forbidden me to stay so late. Now, I go to work at 9am and come home by 11pm . These hours are quite normal for the Taiwanese.”

The man who invented USB pen-drive is a young modest Malaysian who can’t even get into a local University but invented the most versatile, indispensable computer peripheral today. And helped his adopted country, Taiwan made $31bil in the process. The rest is history….

Make Money Online the Starbucks way

Imaginations, Dreams, and Humble Origins

I have been inspired by Starbucks founder Howard Schultz, how he built Starbucks one cup at a time to become what it is today. After reading the first few chapters of Howard’s humble origin, i had a tear in my eye of how hard life could be when it turns its back against you. I then realized how lucky i am to have such comfort being provided by my parents.
What Howard said in his book:
From my personal experience, i’d say that the more uninspiring your origins, the more likely you are to use your imagination and invent the worlds where everything seems possible”
“It took me years before i found my passion in life. Each step after that discovery was a quantum leap into something unknown, each move riskier than the last.”

What Howard thought about Fear of Failure
Fear of failure drove me at first, but as I tackled each challenge, my anxiety was replaced by a growing sense of optimism. Once you overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles, other hurdles become less daunting. Most people can achieve beyond their dreams if they insist upon it. I’d encourage everyone to dream big, lay your foundations well, absorb information like a sponge, and not be afraid to defy conventional Wisdom. Just because it hasn’t been done before doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try.”

This book had inspired me to always have that entrepreneurial mindset, defying the odds and start a business.
I have thought for a very long time, “how on earth” am i going to get the cash needed to startup a business. After some time i realize that Internet marketing is the best way to go, because i did not need capital, and i already have a laptop and an internet connection.
I realized:
1) Nothing in the world is bigger than the internet
2) People have been making 6 figure Passive income from IM itself
3) Best startup for youngsters without any cash flow
4) The Next wave is here, Social Media is connecting the way we interact
5) Over a billion people are connected at you fingertips

However, running an Internet marketing business isn’t easy.
One of the main reasons why 95% of the people fail to achieve success in Internet marketing is because they fail to start their first website.

Here is what you have got to do right after you finish reading this posts:

From my experience, if you have an idea, try your best to do it immediately or write your ideas on a paper. Most people are able to carry out their plans if they take action within the Minute!

1) Being Proactive! Getting your hands dirty in the process.
2)Sit down and start taking action, start with simple steps
3) Don’t just talk, register a domain now! (namecheap is where i registered this domain)
4)Do your research right away and implement it immediately.

entrepreneur / business mindset

What must one do to become a true entrepreneur?

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg (born May 14, 1984) is an American computer programmer and entrepreneur. Facebook is a social networking site popular worldwide. Zuckerberg serves as Facebook’s CEO. He has been the subject of controversy for the origins of his business mindset and his wealth.

Time Magazine added Zuckerberg as one of The World’s Most Influential People of 2008. He fell under the Scientists & Thinkers category for his web phenomenon, Facebook, and ranked 52 out of 101 people.

Chad Meredith Hurley (born 1976) is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the popular San Bruno, California-based video sharing website YouTube. In June 2006, he was voted 28th on Business 2.0′s “50 People Who Matter Now” list. In October 2006 he sold YouTube for $1..65 billion to Google.

Hurley worked in eBay’s PayPal divisionone of his tasks involved designing the original PayPal logo before starting YouTube with fellow PayPal colleagues Steve Chen and Jawed Karim..

Hurley is a user interface expert and was primarily responsible for the tagging and video sharing aspects of YouTube

If you want to start a business, what must you do to succeed especially when others are watching you?
1. Take action and face adversity!
Many entrepreneur wannabes have lofty dreams about starting a business. They tell their friends that they want to start a business and enjoy the admiration and glamour for announcing their bold step, but most of the time, they fear looking stupid in front of their friends, they do not have the right business mindset. They like the right attention but are not willing to humble themselves when their business plans or attitude is put under scrutiny.
2. If you are afraid to take risk and fear failure, you are OUT
Because these wannabes fear looking stupid in front of their friends, they are afraid to take risks. They fear their opinions so much that they don’t do anything because they are afraid of making a fool of themselves. At the end of the day, their business ventures fail and they blame the market demand, the business model, the product and everything else other than themselves. The root of the problem is actually their business mindset, because a true entrepreneur is a risk taker. I don’t mean a foolhardy risk taker but someone who is willing to take risks and make the best of their mistakes, often making a fool of themselves in the process. Their so called friends would most likely make fun of them and sneer at their persistence. But does that get a true entrepreneur to quit? Of course not. A true entrepreneur is willing to put up with the ridicule because they know that they are fighting for good long-term success. They are willing to sacrifice their short-term dignity for a better future. They endure to the end and get the opportunity to tell those negative friends, ¡ see, I told you I can do it!
3. Mix with positive people and those that can give you constructive advice.
When you hang around with negative people who look down on you and make fun of you, you have to stop hanging around these guys. They can’t stand seeing you succeed because it would make them look bad. You have to start hanging around positive people because they will give you constructive advice. Don’t listen to a critic unless they appreciate your work or your efforts. This is the best way to move forward. Never ever let a negative person steal your dream. Hang around with people who no only share your dream and business mindset but will encourage you when things are not going smoothly.
4.Imagination is more important than knowledge, USE it to your advantage in R&D
A true entrepreneur would make the most of his time by doing market research and making intelligent decisions rather than leaving the fate of their business to nay-sayers. You have to take action expose your plans and ideas to the cold, harsh reality as soon as possible. Only then will you learn from your experiences. Above all, you must believe in yourself your business mindset. Trust your gut feeling. Never leave let your future be clouded by doubt. If you keep on waiting until the timing is perfect, it will never come. There is no better time than now because now is the time to act.

Positive attitude!

The positive thinker’s mindset towards problems

A problem is usually an opportunity in disguise. Most people are negative. When a problem occurs, they usually sigh and complain. A positive outlook  thinking person does not see problems as a barrier. When we look at the word “problem”,  it carries a negative connotation in mind. You feel bad because it is an obstacle in your way blocking your path to riches.

Defy Conventional Wisdom!

True entrepreneurs see the problem in a different light. They call them challenges. Imagine walking into a boardroom of a corporation. Everything seems to be stressed and serious. Walk and communicate to shareholders, the chairman, the staff and say,  we have a problem. The reaction of the market has fallen badly in recent days! Imagine the reaction in all of their faces. Imagine a meeting to solve the problem . It does not take a genius to guess that the room is full of hostility and negative energy. Instead of looking at the problem, look at your proposed solution!

Turn the scenario around. This time you enter the room and say we have a challenge on our hands. The market response has declined over the past few days, but we are going to develop an exciting strategy that will reverse this trend to our benefit .This would sound totally different from the beginning. The result would be completely different! Often, this is a test of our ability in tackling problems. The more practice we have, the better we become. Start building from the foundation and hold on to that insatiable desire to succeed step by step.

Everything that is great now was not built in one day, even if it is, it would not last long, for positive values in your business is built gradually.

The empire of ROME was not built over night

A hot burning flame would burnout very fast, use charcoal to instead, try it out!

So it is good to take a positive view of your problems. Learn to solve problems and develop the right character and hence a business mindset. It also requires a lot of practice when it comes to addressing the problem. When you learn to ride a bicycle, you learn to ride, remember the instructions? Of course it is not easy.  So you must believe in your ability and never, never give up.

Try this 5 day e-course to develop your mindset at: business mindset!
