In my opinion, the most important factor in your potential success in this business is your passion. The nature of this business involves a lot of personal rejection and challenges; therefore, if you do not love the concept of being in business for yourself, and earning a living based upon your efforts and results, then MLM may not be for you. Quite simply, if you love the challenge of building an organization and developing a residual income through direct selling, you cannot go wrong.

Have a Strong Reason Why

Let’s be honest and face the facts. Network marketing is a great vehicle to ride towards your financial destination, but it is a tough business. In my experience, if you do not have a strong enough reason why you want to achieve financial success, you will not push yourself to do the things required to achieve success in this business. For me, these “reasons why” include such things as: secure my family’s financial future; quit my day job; enjoy taking vacations with my wife; and, passing a profitable business down to my children. But don’t just say, “I want to be a diamond distributor within 12 months.” Take it a step further and figure out exactly what steps you must take to achieve that goal. In my opinion, goals without action statements are just fantasies.

Know Your Skills

The expression “it takes all kinds,” tells you everything you need to know here. If you take a hundred different distributors, you would likely find a hundred different individual skillsets and talents. Some of us know how to design websites or make cold calls, while others may do well hosting house parties, or sharing the plan in front of a large crowd. Find your strengths, and figure out how to build your business using those skills. Sure, a weakness in a given area of your business building skillset needs attention, but your bread and butter success in this business will come by capitalizing on what you are good at.

Keep Positive

Now this one can be rough. The number of people who join MLM opportunities, only to quit in frustration, is staggering. But it does not have to be this way. I’m not suggesting you have to run around sounding like Pollyanna, but it is important that you keep focused on your reason why you started an MLM business. Again, stay positive by focusing on your goals and passion, and not obsessing over the roadblock and obstacles you encounter along the way.

Use Time Wisely

Most of us are approaching the MLM home business opportunity on a part time basis due to the requirements of continuing to maintain a day job while we build our business income. If you are serious about building an MLM business, you must manage your time effectively. The best way I know to survive in tis business and make money, is to focus on leveraging your time. That is, do the right things at the right time. Be careful how you allocate your limited time, and do those things that will garner the best results. For example, if you can effectively cold call prospects in an efficient manner, this may work for you better than hanging around a coffee shop waiting to talk to strangers. Likewise, if you can effectively create website and conduct search engine optimization, then your time may be better spent doing this, rather than cold calling or waiting to meet a stranger who may never show.

Master The Marketing

Every MLM opportunity offers a unique marketing and compensation plan. Therefore; if you are going to accurately and persuasively present your company’s opportunity, you must become a master of the plan. Beyond your company specifics, you must also learn how to share the opportunity with others. For some, this means handing out business cards, conducting opportunity meetings, or writing articles. The point is, to achieve success in this business you must elevate your game to a world class level. Master the plan, and then become a student of your marketing methods.

While passion is critical, there is nothing like joining a cheesy company to destroy your dreams. Make sure your opportunity is built upon the solid foundation of an ethical and legal company that offers outstanding product quality and customer service. Without it, you are setting yourself up for failure. This subject also relates to your personal values, beliefs, and interests.
